Château de Tracy has been run by the same family since the 14th century. Records of the property go back to 1396 when “Les Champs de Crix” vineyard was purchased. Nowadays, this particular vineyard is still planted with Sauvignon Blanc and utilized by the Domaine. In 1586, Françoise Stutt married Françoise de Bar who brought him as a dowry the seigneury of Tracy. François Stutt, current owner, is one of the descendents of this union.
Today the domaine consists of 33 hectares on the flinty slopes around the Château itself and those of Vilmoy, a few kilometres away from Pouilly-sur-Loire (Kimmeridgian limestone terroir). To the north of the Pouilly Fume area, on the hillsides which overlook the Loire, the Château de Tracy vineyard extends from “Tracy hill” to the “Champs de Cris” plateau.
Tasting Notes
Pale yellow in the glass with bright green-tinged highlights. Pronounced aromatics with fresh blackcurrant, boxwood, peppermint and tarragon evolving towards fruitier notes of lemon followed by exotic fruit such as mango and passionfruit and spice driven note with hints of coriander and green pepper. The palate is well concentrated and the flavors echo the nose. Bright lemony acidity progressively rises, grapefruit and lime is balanced by flavours of exotic fruit and mango.
Method
Made from Sauvignon Blanc grown on Flint and Kimmeridgian soils on slopes overlooking the Loire river with a South west exposure in the Pouilly FumĂ© appellation. The grapes were picked at optimal ripeness over a period of a few days. The grapes were fermented in 600 hl in concrete and stainless-steel vats. Â
