Château La Dominique, a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé estate, is located on the outskirts of Pomerol (Left Bank of the Gironde Estuary).  Château La Dominique’s 29-hectare vineyard, owned by the Fayat family since 1969, benefits from a great terroir, whose plots adjoin the most famous vineyards of the region – Cheval Blanc, Figeac, La Conseillante, L’EvangileThe estate’s wines are beloved for their intensity, ripe fruit and opulence; it has all the the intensity of Saint-Émilion with the generosity of a Pomerol.  

Tasting Notes

Aromas of raspberries, strawberries and blackberries. The palate is round and rich with flavours of ripe red and black fruit, fine herbs, ripe tannins, fine acidity and a finsih that leaves you wanting another sip. 

Method

La Dominique is a blend of 85% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon grown on soils complsed of clay-gravel, clay-limestone and sands on clay.  The vines are about 30 years old and planted at a density of 7500 vines/ha.  They practice traditional viticulture and use cover crops every two rows, according to the vigour of the vine.  The harvest is done manually and timed with the the ripening schedule of each variety. Stainless steel fermenation and aging in a combination of vessels for 14 months; 50% new barrels, 40% 1 year old barrels, 10% amphorae and vegetable polymer egg and globe.
