🇫🇷 🥐 French Favourites
The sun is out, and that can only mean one thing; Vermouth Spritz.
Comoz Vermouth is one of my favourite aperitifs that we sell. It’s a 200 year old recipe from a vermouthier that closed in the 80’s, only to be brought back to life by Dolin. Made in the French Alps, and packed with aromatic notes of cherry, vanilla, orchard fruits, and wormwood. The palate is smooth, creamy, and full of flavour that finishes with a touch of sweetness. It’s the perfect companion to sip on while making dinner, over ice with a lemon twist or with soda water for a spritz. Vermouth is cool again, kids, so pick up a bottle and drink with gusto.

No matter the season, Chardonnay is my go-to varietal, especially when the sun is shining. While Chablis isn’t a coastal region, few wines remind me more of the sea. The area was once covered by an ancient seabed, and its famed Kimmeridgian soils, of fossilized marine life, which contribute minerality and finesse to the wines.
This Premier Cru vineyard is recognized as one of the region’s finest sites. Its shallow soils sit over Kimmeridgian marl and limestone, with veins of blue clay that contribute both weight and distinctive mineral character to the wine. This wine is stunning in the glass and would be perfect paired with anything from the sea!

An aromatic, crisp and refreshing Tidal Bay is kind of the perfect summer wine. If we are talking about coastal wines, you can’t get any more coastal than a wine born on the shores of the Atlantic coast. This is an easy and fun wine that captures the relaxed and easy vibe we all crave during the summer. A wine made for sipping on a sunny patio, at a lakeside cottage, for picnicking and pairing with light fare and of course our local fresh seafood. Lightfoot & Wolfville is a favourite, the grapes grow overlooking the Minas Basin, it is certified biodynamic and a little less sweet than most. Support local this summer and drink more Tidal Bay.

When thinking about wines found by the coast, it’s hard not to mention a legend on our shelves: Laxas Albarino. Subtle floral notes mixed with stone fruit, refershing acidity, and firm minerality make this perfect choice for the kind of meals you’re eating this time of year. An easy pairing with a variety of Sprummer dishes, plop this down on any outdoor table before, during, or after supper and let the waves crash around you.

A must have for gin enthusiasts. Located off the southern coast of England, the Isle of Scilly is an archipelago consisting of 140 islands, of which only five are inhabited. Known for their beautiful white sand beaches, crystal clear water and famous Bishop’s Rock lighthouse (to which this bottle’s shape is an ode to) Scilly Gin is as stunning as where it comes from.
Clean with a viscous mouthfeel, this gin has notes of orange, juniper and gentle spice. Best over ice with a splash of tonic water and a slice of orange.

Summer’s nearly here and with it is a new crispy light white, perfect for patio partying, outdoor oysters, sunny snacking and everything in between. Vinho Verde is synonymous with fresh, citrussy, bright and light white wine and it simply cannot be beat on a hot day.
A blend of indigenous Portuguese varieties, this wine proves a pleasant pairing for sushi, ceviche, salads, fish dishes and more. If you’re hunting for a new staple that doesn’t break the bank and you haven’t already explored our newly-expanded Portuguese selection of wines, this is a Vera good reason to check it out.

This is one of those beers that immediately caught my attention the moment it hit the shelves. I didn’t know much about Landwash Brewing at first, but after a few cans, I quickly understood why people were excited to see them arrive in Nova Scotia. They’ve got a knack for making approachable, flavour-packed beer without overcomplicating things.
That Much Ocean is a classic New England IPA — bursting with tropical fruit notes, soft citrus, and just enough bitterness to keep everything balanced. If you’ve been on the fence about IPAs, this might be the one that changes your mind. It drinks more like freshly squeezed juice than the bitter bombs that gave the style its reputation.
Whether you’re sitting at the beach or just pretending you are from your couch, this beer is begging to be paired with fish tacos.

From the shores of the Minas Basin, Domaine de Grand Pré sits at the entrance to the Annapolis Valley, the heart of Nova Scotia Wine Country.. Aged for seven months in new French oak, toasty cedar, vanilla and baking spice sit alongside lemon curd, orchard fruit, and tropical notes. The Small Lot Chardonnay bears the region’s distinct coastal influence, offering fresh acidity and minerality alongside a slight buttery finish thanks to partial malolactic fermentation.

I have long had a soft spot for this one. Coming from the Zapallar region, which is just 7km inland from the pacific ocean, the Montes Alpha Special Chardonnay will have you dreaming of your favourite beach. A full and fruity bouquet will give you pineapple and bananas; the french oak and malolactic fermentation will give you full, soft, and textured feel; and the perfect amount of acidity will give just enough freshness to come back for more. Go on, have a sip. I dare you.
