Castel Firmian
Italian wines dominate new releases this week.
Castel Firmian, part of Mezzacorona, takes its name from a historic castle overlooking the vineyards of Trentino’s Piana Rotaliana. Crafted from select grapes, these wines are fragrant, elegant, and expressive of Trentino’s terroir; rooted in the land, tradition, and winemaking. This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to new bottles from italy, though. We’re also welcoming the return of wines from Feudo Arancio, and introducing a new Pinot Grigio from Forte Alto!

Castel Firmian is part of the Mezzacorona wine company. The name derives from the castle of the same name, a noble residence overlooking the vineyards of the Piana Rotaliana in northern Italy’s Trentino Alto Adige region. Castel Firmian is a line made from select grapes and encompasses wines with an enveloping character. The intensity of their aromas and the balance of their fragrances convey a story of connection to the land, love of tradition, and the experience of genuine people. Trentino is the distinctive aromatic note of Castel Firmian: fragrant and elegant wines with an ancient flavor.

Machrie Moor
Isle of Arran’s peated offerings return.
On Arran’s west coast, Machrie Moor is a wild peat bog dotted with Bronze Age stone circles and standing stones. Legend says the giant Fingal tethered his dog Bran to one of them. This peated Arran Single Malt captures the rugged beauty and folklore of this storied landscape. We’re happy to see the return of these two delicious drams from the rugged Isle of Arran; grab yours before they’re gone again!

“Nose: Rich sweet spiced notes backed with the strength of peat smoke and ripe citrus fruits
Palate: Warming, balanced and rich. A sweetness lies beneath the spice and the layer of sweet smoke adds intensity.”

Grand Pré Winery
Local additions to this week’s arrivals.
We’re happy to showcase a couple of new bottles from local-legends Grand Pré Winery! This week, we’re adding two new expressions of Chardonnay to our shelves; their Small Lot Chardonnay and Terroir Series Chardonnay. Why not grab a bottle or two of each and enjoy some cool climate Chardonnay over the hopefully-not-so-cool weekend?

Family owned and operated, Domaine de Grand Pré winery was built on love and passion for Nova Scotia and exceptional wine and food. Hanspeter Stutz, owner and father, is a visionary who first took a leap of faith in 1994, trusting that something special could be established to grow the Nova Scotia wine industry. He wanted to create a world-class destination while building a future for his family. Hanspeter’s children and their partners manage the vineyards, the winery, the restaurant Le Caveau, and an inn that opened in 2022. Jurg Stutz is the winemaker at the estate and crafts polished and elegant wines year after year. The Domaine is known for its crisp and clean flavour profile and they pride themselves in using only 100 per cent Nova Scotian grown grapes.

Ontario Legends
New beer from Bellwoods, Willibald, and more.
Our buds from Bellwoods in Toronto were kind enough to send us their 14th anniversary edition of Witchshark! This time around, they’ve used Pineapple Terpenes; all natural and botanically sourced aroma compounds that add HUGE flavour. They sent us a few more beers, too. Plus, new additions from Willibald and Dillon’s!

For over 10 years Toronto’s Bellwoods Brewery has established themselves as one of the country’s most iconic craft breweries. From lineups around the block in the early days at their Ossington Ave. location, to opening a second much larger brewery complete with rows upon rows of barrels for mixed fermentation and dark beer ageing. Bellwoods has won a long list of national and international awards and have collaborated with countless world-class breweries.
