Cottage Jam: Pour Me a Drink by Post Malone and Blake Shelton
Golfing with the boys. A bottle of Lambrusco. Kaisers Subs in the cart. Posty blaring from the JBL. Does summer get any better? I’m here to tell ya, it doesn’t. You cue up “Pour Me a Drink” on the first tee, and the vibes are instantly at a WM Phoenix Open level. We’re 6 over through 3 but havin’ the time of our lives. Then someone cracks the Chiarli Vecchia Modena Lambrusco (snuck it on, obviously), and the fellas are buzzin’ by the turn. It’s bubbly, it’s an Italian fruit punch, and it goes down smoother than a 4 foot gimme. Lambrusco on the course might be frowned upon but when the boys are vibin’? It’s the only way.
Hey! Somebody pour Me a Drink.

Cottage Jam: Believe by Caamp
Summer is for the classics, it’s for not overthinking things – not overthinking your drink, and not overthinking your music. I’ve recently become a big fan of Caamp. That gravelly voice overtop groovy folk songs just hits the right notes anytime of year, especially summertime. Another new favourite of mine is this West Coast Pils from O’Creek Brewing. It’s the same crisp and clean pilsner you know and love, but hopped with American hops like Cascade and Simcoe, and it works beautifully. Clean and snappy bitterness is balanced with American hop character – orange zest, herbal notes, and some dank.

Cottage Jam: Dog Days are Over by Florence & the Machine
Music on, a charcuterie plate from Ratinaud assembled, sparkling cork popped—you’ve arrived. Nothing sets the tone at the cottage like a chilled bottle of this Lightfoot & Wolfivlle Brut Rosé. Pale salmon in the glass, the nose is full of notes of wild strawberry, fresh sage, and a whisper of toasted biscuit. The palate is bright, crisp, and effortlessly elegant, it’s the perfect match for creamy cheeses, salty charcuterie, your playlist and long, golden hours on the dock. Let the unwind begin.

Cottage Jam: It’s a Beautiful Day by U2
The unofficial start of summer has arrived! I do drink Guinness often but for me, a perfectly poured Guinness, sitting on a patio is heaven. That delicious creamy head defying gravity like a tiny, edible cloud. And what’s on the soundtrack? None other than U2’s “It’s a Beautiful Day.” Some might call it cliché; I call it tradition. The sun’s shining, the birds are singing, and Bono’s voice is soaring, making me almost believe my tan lines will finally match. This isn’t just a drink and a song; it’s my annual ritual to declare summer officially open. If I spill any, it’s just me giving the patio stones a celebratory rinse.

Cottage Jam: Keep this Train A-Rollin’ by the Doobie Brothers
Nothing says kicking off Summer to me like a glass of Rosé and what better choice than Prieure de Montezargues Tavel? New to us, in general Tavel is always a great choice as they tend to be on the richer, hotter (ABV) side of things. Although this one comes in at a reasonable 13.5% ABV, it finds itself in that sweet spot for drinking on its own at the cottage or pairing with all of your favourite summer maritime dishes. And the song to pair it with? Well, that’s a little harder to pin down but in honour of Father’s Day, the Doobie Brothers are always a go-to for a Dad Rock™ classic.

Cottage Jam: Lookin’ Out My Back Door by Creedence Clearwater Revival
With summer creeping up on us like that one friend who shows up to the BBQ an hour early (but we love ’em anyway), I’ve found myself doing more and more of the extremely important task of lookin’ out my back door at my yard. Why? Because there’s something magical about watching the kids run amok while I ignore all my yardwork.
And let’s be real — during these gloriously lazy evenings, the only thing that can make my relaxed energy truly complete is an easy cocktail recipe that I can whip up with minimal effort. Insert White Port & Tonic. Three simple ingredients and a slice of orange and the only thing I’m stressing about is how quick my ice is going to melt. Cheers to that!

Cottage Jam: Teenage Dream by Katy Perry
2010 Katy Perry was so good. 2009 Champagne was also very good. Unfortunately, only one of those things is still good in 2025, and it’s definitely not Katy Perry. This Champagne however, has aged enough to be a teenager itself (feel old yet?) and has all the energy and fun that Ms. Perry so eloquently described in what I believe to be her best song. A picturesque summer growing season provided ideal growing conditions for top-notch Champers. And the wine is super unique in that it’s 100% Chardonnay sourced from a sub-region that is normally known for growing Pinot Noir. My missing puzzle piece, if you will.

Cottage Jam: With Arms Wide Open by Creed
With cans cracked open…
Welcome to this can,
Fairweather’s got the cure,
For grey days and bland plans,
This brew is bold and pure.
Blood orange sings so sweet,
Vanilla clouds the skies,
Tropical, apple pie—
A soft, delicious high.
With cans cracked open…
You’re on a beach somewhere,
It’s mango-pineapple air,
A milkshake dream to share.
This IPA’s a vibe,
A smooth and creamy pour,
A full and fruity ride
That leaves you wanting more.
Fairweather’s Soft More sings—
With cans cracked open…

Cottage Jam: Seven Sunny Days in June by Jamiroquai
Seven sunny days in June were long enough to brew one of my favourite beers to ever grace our store. Beautifully aromatic, wonderfully textured, notes of tropical fruit, and rather hop forward for an NEIPA. East meets west in this beer. And hey, if none of that lures you in, then just buy it for its label. All of Fairweather’s labels are highly stylized too so keep an eye out for them.

Cottage Jam: Get On the Floor by Michael Jackson
This summer I will turn up “Get on the Floor” by Michael Jackson and crack open a Peroni Nastro Azzurro 0.0%—because nothing says hot summer night like dancing terribly with zero regrets. This non-alcoholic Italian beauty is crisp, citrusy, and classy enough to make your questionable moves feel intentional. Perfect for BBQs, beach days, or pretending you’re in a music video while holding a beer that won’t knock you off your rhythm. Stay cool, stay hydrated, stay funky.

Cottage Jam: I’m the Problem by Morgan Wallen
Kicking off summer means embracing the chaos—and nothing screams summer starter pack like Morgan Wallen’s “I’m the Problem” blasting on the speaker while you sip a Triple Bogey Orange Transfusion on the patio, sunburned but proud. Wallen’s anthem of questionable decisions pairs perfectly with this zesty, golf-inspired cocktail in a can. Whether you’re teeing off or just pretending you understand golf lingo, this citrusy transfusion has your back. It’s tangy, a little wild, and definitely more reliable than your sunscreen application. So throw on your shades, fire up the playlist, and remember: if your summer kickoff includes loud country music and drinks that sound like sports penalties, you’re doing it right. Just don’t blame us when your group text says, “You are the problem.”

Cottage Jam: Clay Pigeons by Blaze Foley, John Prine, and Michael Cera
Summer’s here, and my favourite Calgary RTD has finally made the long journey over to Halifax, Nova Scotia! Nothing says summer like outlaw country and ice-cold margs. Olé Margarita is made with blue weber agave tequila, real lime juice, a touch of organic agave nectar and a pinch of sea salt, perfect for those long summer days. Crisp, bright, and clean, enjoy with another Blaze Foley classic, “Big Cheeseburgers and Good French Fries!”

Cottage Jam: Wholeheartedly by Freya Milliken
Now that it’s warm enough to comfortably sit outside past sunset, I’ve been ending my evenings with campfires, singing along to local artists like Freya Milliken and cracking open a Willibald Gin & Tonic every now and then. This RTD has a great balance of sweet to bitter to piney notes, they really got the ratios down well. Freya’s smooth indie-folk tunes really capture a cozy evening at the campfire and bring it all together. I look forward to a relaxing summer outdoors with easy going yet well made drinks, and a heck of a lot of incredible local artists.

Cottage Jam: Yer Spring by Hey, Rosetta!
The title is a little on the nose, I know, but there is something that this song (the whole “Seeds” album, honestly) stirs in me. It makes me want to shrug off the weight of winter and start doing things. Reconnecting with friends, making plans, heck even some good ol’ spring cleaning. This song strikes an amazing balance of nostalgia and anticipation for things to come. That feeling deserves a memorable wine, and the Kekfrancos Rose is the perfect companion. Red fruit, acidity, and savoury herbs will refresh your palate as Tim Baker’s lyrics fill your soul. Truly a perfect East Coast match.

Cottage Jam: Does Your Mother Know by ABBA
We all know Mamma Mia the movie. Set in warm Greece with a soundtrack to die for that is the embodiment of summer. All of ABBA’s songs featured in the movie are fantastic and deserve an equally fantastic beverage for pairing. Propeller’s Hard Sparkling Lemonade is juicy, refreshing and crisp which is perfect to beat the summer heat. It is fizzy goodness in a king sized can so you’ll get more bang for your buck which we LOVEEEE. So when the weather finally heats up, you’ll catch me listening to ABBA with a crisp, cold one in hand.

Cottage Jam: Birds by Turnstile
I’m kicking off summer with some headbanging and bubbles! This is the season to cut loose, embrace the heat, the sweat and kick sand in the air. There’s an electric energy that comes with the rising temperatures and for me, this is a TURNSTILE SUMMER. They’re a hardcore rock band from Tampa, FL and they’re releasing a new record this summer and I’m more than ready for it. And what will I be drinking while being shaken by these hard hitting songs? The new Lightfoot & Wolfville X Barkeep Cocktails Paradise Spritz. Big, fun bubbles, delicious rosé, aromatic, fresh, it just screams summer in a can. Ready to turn it up?
