With over 20 years of experience as a wine merchant in Halifax, Jason joined Bishop’s Cellar back in 2013. Working within our product team and splitting time between our shop and warehouse offices, Jason’s extensive experience helps select and source the wonderful wines we carry on our shelves everyday. Working hard to make shopping for wine less complicated and intimidating for customers of all knowledge levels, you can catch Jason pouring wine and helping customers find what they’re looking for on most Saturdays down at our Lower Water St. store.

Favourite grape or wine region? 

Syrah/Carmenere blends from Chile. Currently in love with Lambrusco Salamino, though.

Are you a dog or cat person? Or maybe neither. Maybe you have birds or turtles or an ant farm?

Picks for Spring + St Patrick’s Day


Terregaie is located in Vo, a small town in the Euganean Hills immersed in a volcanic territory, where everything smells of wine and the Lovo family have a long storied history of wine making.

Prosecco is their focus, and for over a decade it has been for us as well. Just in time for spring a new wine from them arrived and it happens to be one of my favorite styles of wine. Northern Italian Sauvignon Blanc. This is the style of wine you want to celebrate the arrival of Spring with. The nose has intense aromatic notes of grapefruit, sage, and minerals. The palate has cleansing, fresh acidity that is balanced by the mixture of citrus and stone fruit.
