Joining the team in 2024, Damir is an avid beer and wine enthusiast. Having previously spent a year in Portugal exploring their wines, from Douro Valley to Alentejo,  and even Porto, to get more familiar with fortified wine, Damir brings a wealth of knowledge and curiosity to our shop and we’re excited to welcome him abooard. Favourite grape or wine region? 

Nebbiolo.

What’s one thing that people would be shocked to know about you?

I’ve lived in 5 countries.

Favorite food? If you could eat one type of food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Arepa. A traditional Venezuela food, made out of corn flour. You can fill it with whatever you please. But my favorite filling would be “Reina Pepiada” a mix of shredded chicken, avocado and green peas.

Saint Patrick’s Day 🍀

St. Patrick’s Day comes around every year to empower you to break out a folding chair in a public square and crack open a cold beer. Or at least that’s mostly the tradition in cities around the world where the celebrations take over and everything turns green, like fountains, or mostly small, enclosed, bodies of water.  I lived in Savannah, Georgia for some time, and St Patty’s is huge there. Second biggest celebration in the US after New York, according to Google and my personal experience. This year, I will unfold my chair in my living room (we’re not in southern Georgia) and open a Burnside Happy Place. A rich, hoppy, hazy Double IPA that will hopefully transport me mentally to one of Savannah’s many squares, and bring back memories of a fun southern St. Patrick’s Day bash.
