Saint Jean du Barroux La Source
Le Barroux is a small Provencal town located in the heart of the Vaucluse. Its twelfth century castle overhangs the stone-built village houses and picturesque alleys. In between the two famous mountains, the Mont Ventoux and the Dentelles de Montmirail, le Barroux is renowned as being an excellent tourist site, providing a magnificent view point. Nature surrounds the village, forests and fruit trees, intermingled with vines which paint a varying landscape of changing colors. The estate vineyards extend over 15 ha of the hillside, at an elevation of between 300 to 400 meters. It consists of 11 hectares of vines and 4 hectares of fruit trees and forest, on alternating terraces and slopes.
Phillip Gimel is the winemaker of the Saint Jean du Barroux wines. His wines express the terroir of the lower slopes of the famous Mont Ventoux near the road between Le Barroux and the Roman town of Vaison la Romaine. The talented Philippe keeps his yields very low in order to concentrate fruit flavour and de-stems every hand picked bunch. The wines are certified organic.

In 1935 Denis Jamain’s grandfather planted the first vines in the region along with farming the large oak forest on the edge of town. The domaine began with two hectares of vines and has grown to 17 hectares. Denis continues in the family tradition of grape growing and farms seventeen hectares in the heart of the appellation of Reuilly, a Centre-Loire appellation, which is in the eastern part of the Loire Valley. He has eleven hectares planted to Sauvignon Blanc, four planted to Pinot Noir, and two planted to Pinot Gris, which makes his superb and distinctive Reuilly rosé. The entire domaine received organic status in 2011 is now certified biodynamic. The Domaine benefits from an exceptional land, mainly composed of clay and limestone of the Kimmeridgian era for the growing of its three grape varietals and also benefits from very favorable climate conditions for the good ripening of the grapes.

Bodegas Ramon de Ayala is the producer of Vina Saturnia located in the town of Brinas, in Rioja Alta. The estate dates back to the 1950’s and has been family operated for 5 generations. The winery has 30 hectares of vineyards in Rioja Alta and Alavesa with some vines dating back to 1920s and most of the vineyards being 30 to 40 years old. The autumn and winter experiences cold temperatures with snow and some rain, while the summers are hot and nights cool off which is beneficial for producing quality wines with ripe enough fruit and fresh acidity. The soils are calcareous-clay with gravel. In 1985 the winery was renovated and updated and boasts an impressive underground cellar. They practice organic viticulture and only spray sulfur when needed.
