North Brewing started in the North-End of Halifax, Nova Scotia under the name Bridge Brewing, but have since changed names to North Brewing. In the spring of 2019 they moved to much larger new brewery on Portland St. in Dartmouth. With a strong commitment to environmental responsibility, North Brewing strives to be a zero emissions craft brewery while producing exceptional, hand-crafted beers.
Tasting Notes
Brewer Brad whipped this up a few weeks ago and it turned out excellent! All the rich malty goodness of a stout without the addition of lactose. Tons of chocolate and roast character, but doesn’t drink heavy. Instead, it wraps you up like a big cozy hug on a cool autumn evening. Enjoy!
Method
The addition of flaked oats add a smooth, rich body to the finished beer. This beer style is dark brown to black in colour. Roasted malt character is caramel-like and chocolate-like, and should be smooth and not bitter. Coffee-like roasted barley and malt aromas are prominent, while packed with darker malt flavours and a rich and oily body from the oats.
