2 Crows Brewing Co. is the brainchild of husband and wife duo Mark and Kelly Huizink and brewer Jeremy Taylor. They brew modern beers with care and focus on quality. Their aim is to get people thinking about craftsmanship, where their beer is coming from and the various characteristics that make beer great.
Tasting Notes
Probably the juiciest, fruitiest beer 2 Crows have done to date. Aromas of fresh tropical fruits, strawberries, mango, and guava with subtle floral notes that lead into a palate with juicy creamy fruit flavours. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate carbonation and mellow bitterness. The finish is smooth with lingering flavours of fruit and refreshing acidity.
Method
Brewed with a base of Pilsner malt, with malted wheat, raw wheat, and oats. No hops added to the boil, this beer was soured in fermenter with lacto plantarum and fermented hot with Ebbengarden kveik yeast from Escarpment Labs. After ferment, 2 Crows conditioned the beer on 415lbs of strawberry purée and 280lbs of guava purée and lightly dry hopped with Huell Melon to inhibit the lacto and play up the fruit flavours
Our Thoughts
2 Crows has established a reputation for producing stand-out sour beers, and their Jamboree is no exception. Contrary to typical sours, the Jamboree is fresh and light on its feet, with just a hint of tanginess- like the first strawberry of the season. Given that over 600lbs of strawberry and guava puree are used to condition the base Jamboree after ferment, it’s no wonder that this beer is considered 2 Crows’ fruitiest so far!
