A’bunadh, Gaelic for ‘of the origin’, is matured exclusively in Oloroso ex-sherry butts. It is a natural cask-strength malt whisky produced without the use of modern-day chill filtering methods or the addition of water. Bottling at cask strength safeguards the maximum concentration of flavours until the whisky reaches your glass. Surprisingly drinkable as is, add a few drops of water until you find the perfect harmony for your palate and watch this whisky evolve.
The A’bunadh fits quite nicely into the ‘sherry bomb’ style of Speyside whiskys. The palate is unbelievably rich with ripe cherries, bread pudding, dark chocolate, tanned leather, licorice, and zesty ginger. Each sip brings something new to the palate, and each time it is delicious. A’bunadh is produced in batches, and each one is different, but this is one of the most consistently outstanding single malt whiskys being made today. Add a few drops of water to this undiluted whisky until you find the right balance for your palate. An absolute must try for anyone even remotely interested in whisky.
