Founded in 1995, Calmel and Joseph is a micro-negociant specializing in Languedoc-Roussillon wines. This region continues to grow and offer incredible value. Sourced from private wineries across the region, the resulting wines are excellent expressions of their local terroirs. Oenologist, Laurent Calmel, and Jerome Joseph work together on the vinification, blending, and ageing of wines.

Tasting Notes

The Villa Blanche Chardonnay has a delicate nose of white peach, dried apricots and floral notes. It is medium bodied and round in the mouth balanced fruit and acid and just a whisper of spice and oak.

To make this wine, the grapes are harvested in two separate passes; the first round of picking occurs in an earlier stage of ripeness to contribute freshness and acidity in the wine, then second round happens 15 days later to obtain grapes with more developed concentrated fruit and aromatics. The grapes are then de-stemmed, fermented in stainless steel, and undergo no malolactic fermentation.  30% of the wine ages for three months in oak barrels.
