The château was built in 1750 and shares a rich royal history with the opulent Château de Versailles. Modern day Chateau De la Dauphine is a Bordeaux wine jewel with a Tuscan landscape and has been in the hands of Stéphanie Barousse for almost 10 years. This 66-hectare treasure of biodiversity (organic & biodynamic) is located in the heart of the Fronsadais region, on an exceptional terroir of limestone plateau.
Château de La Dauphine’s wines are particularly appreciated for their fresh, vigorous tannins, and their silky, creamy texture.
Tasting Notes
Deep red and black fruit; ripe plums, fresh figs and spice. The palate has wonderful concentration and depth, ripe supple tannins and certain freshness that counterbalances the fruit and spice. A wine of great finesse and poise and perfect choice for any special meals.
Method
The estate has about 70 hectares of south-facing vines on a limestone plateau. The vineyard has an unusual amphitheatre shape with a significant slope where there is a difference of 60 metres between the highest and the lowest plots and boasts 14 types of soil. This is a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc.
