El Coto has been producing wine in Rioja since 1970 and has adapted and grown over the decades. Today they are among the top Rioja producers crafted high quality wines. They value the land from which they source their grapes and are the largest winegrower in the Rioja DO, with 730 hectares of their own vineyards.
Tasting Notes
Pale pink-strawberry colour in the glass. Ripe sweet berry aromas carry onto the palate that brusts with sweet strawberry, raspberry and cherry. A fresh and balanced rosé that will pair perfectly with appetizers, salads, fragrant and lightly spiced dishes.
Method
A rosé made from estate grown Garnacha Tinta (the dark version of Garnacha) and Tempranillo grapes from vineyards in Rioja Alavesa. After harvest, the grapes are protected from oxidation via carbonic gas and instantly chilled prior to pressing. This rosé is produced in part through the bleeding of the free-run juice from the grapes in the winery and in part through the cold maceration and subsequent pressing. In both cases, the must obtained is racked for clarification before fermentation. Fermentation are carried out with select yeasts, and at a very low temperature.
