Domaine de Grand Pré makes polished and elegant Nova Scotian wines. The Domaine is known for its crisp and clean flavour profile and they pride themselves in using only 100 per cent Nova Scotian grown grapes. They grow specialty grapes that were developed for the Nova Scotian climate and landscape and the resulting wines wine awards year after year.
Tasting Notes
Pleasant aromas of apple, ripe pear and hay. The palate is light bodied and with refreshing balanced acidity and a clean crisp finish. A well balanced, simple and easy drinking white wine that makes a great aperitif and accompaniment to antipasti and delicate fish and seasood dishes. Pinot Grigio drinkers should try this if they are looking for something from Nova Scotia in a similar style.
Method
This variety was originally developed in Ontario but then brought to Nova Scotia in the early 1980’s. It was named on our vineyard after the Acadians that settled down in Grand Pre, over 400 years ago: L’Acadie Blanc. A very special and unique variety that is mainly grown in Atlantic Canada today, not to be found in any other wine growing regions.
