Kumeu River Rays Road Pinot Noir (750ml)

The vineyard in Rays Road, Raukawa was originally a joint venture between Trinity Hill and Pascal Jolivet from Pouilly-Fumé in the Loire Valley of France.  The soil in this vineyard has a high limestone content and is significantly more elevated than most vineyards in Hawkes Bay. 

The vines were planted by the previous owners in 2008 with a variety of superior clones.  80% of the the grapes from this site go into the Kumeu Village Pinot Noir while the best grapes from this vineyard make up the superior Rays Road bottling.  100% hand-harvested
and entirely de-stemmed, then crushed and undergo indigenous yeast fermentation.  2-3 weeks total cuvaison with remontage or pigeage 3 times a day.  After malolactic fermentation this wine matured for 12 months in French Oak (10% new).
