Their Priocca facility is solar-powered and holds the ICEA certificate for organic wine production.
Tasting Notes
Pronounced vinous bouquet, lots of red fruit and suble savory note. Light bodied with juicy cherry flavours, some fresh herbs, refreshing acidity and mild tannins. An easy drinking Chianti made for simple tomato based pastas, pizza or a plate of traditional Italian salumi and cheeses.
Method
The Chianti winemaking area covers a large hilly area in central Tuscany and surrounds the Chianti Classico zone. The area of Chianti includes 7 sub-zones and these names would be highlighted on the label. La Piuma is made from grapes outside the sub-zones and from grapes sourced from some of these areas, so it is simply labelled Chianti DOCG. The main grape is Sangiovese, though sometimes a minimal amount of other supporting grapes can be included in the blend. The style of wine can vary from producer. In the case of La Piuma, this is an unoaked style with a focus on fresh primary fruit, suitable for early drinking.
