The vineyards at Laurent Miquel in southern France’s Languedoc region date back to 1202, when the monks of Abbey de Fontcaude first began growing vines there. Today, Laurent Miquel is the 8th generation of his family works these vineyards alongside his wife Neasa. They grow local and varietals as well as varietals not normally grown in the region. He farms sustainably and his winemaking philosophy is to respect the past while innovating and improving upon it resulting in a range of elegant, high quality wines with a lot of personality.
Tasting Notes
A “clacson” is a call in French (a car horn), this wine is like that, it’s a call to take notice and bring people together around a glass of wine to chat, laugh and share. Aromas and flavours of red fruit; cherry and raspberries, some plum and a hint of pepper on the finish. Medium bodied with fine ripe tannins. This wine is meant to be enjoyed now and easily pairs with a variety of foods; from pizza to red meat.
Method
A blend of sustainably grown grapes from the Languedoc Roussillon grown on limestone clay soil. 50% Merlot, 30% Syrah, 20% Grenache. Fermented in stainless steel.
