The history of Livon wines dates back 1964 when Dorino Livon bought his first vineyards on the hills of Collio, in Italy’s North eastern region of Friuli bordering Slovenia. He built a winery perfectly equipped with the most technologically advanced systems in order to produce high quality and fresh white and red wines. The Collio region is re-known for producing some of Italy’s most enduring white wines. Livon has a diverse portfolio of wines and has earned a reputation for crafting brilliant white wines in Collio, though their holdings have expanded to other areas in Italy. Livon produces both approachable everyday drinking white wines as well as limited production wines from designated Cru and Gran Cru sites.

Tasting Notes

Deep straw yellow colour, with golden reflections. The bouquet is enticing with lots of intensity and complexity showing ripe stone fruit and spice. The palate is full-bodied with vibrant acidity and fruit concentration that can stand up to the oak presence.  The same complexity on the nose carries on the palate.  Don’t overchill this one and enjoy this special white wine with roast turkey or chicken dinner, a pork roast, rich shellfish dishes or a creamy risotto.

Method

Braide Alte is the top tier of the Livon wine portfolio.  This is a blend of Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Picolit, Moscato Giallo sourced from the Braide Alte vineyard in Dolegna del Collio.  The fermentation takes place in new Allier Barriques at a controlled temperature of 14°- 16°C. When the fermentation is over, the product thus obtained is not poured off and therefore remains in the same containers to mature for about eight months at a constant temperature.
