First opening their doors in 1997, Propeller Brewing Company has gone from a small brewery on Gottingen St. brewing a Pale Ale and an Extra Special Bitter to become one of the largest brewery’s in Nova Scotia and a driving force in this industry. Owner John Allen has allowed the business to grow and branch into multiple locations and a comprehensive product line that includes beer, ready to drink cocktails, and craft sodas. They have won awards both locally and nationally for a wide array of products and continue to experiment with new styles and old favourites.
Tasting Notes
A rich and decadent brew inspired by the indulgence of dipping a churro into melted milk chocolate. With smooth cacao flavours sprinkled with a hint of cinnamon, this creamy stout finishes with just the right balance of sweetness and warmth. Go ahead, use it to make a Churro-infused ice cream float, you’re worth it.
Method
Imperial denotes the elevated alcohol content, often between 7.0% and 12% ABV. This is an old style of stout, originally brewed to survive long journeys to far away places, but in modern times they are often a brewery’s ode to big flavours! These beers have complex malt bills, often with several types of dark malts that create very rich, and intense flavours.
This Churro Imperial Dessert Stout is brewed with 10 different malts, along with Cholaca Liquid Cacao, Cocoa Nibs, Ground Cinnamon, and Cinnamon sticks in order to mimic the flavours of Mexico’s iconic deep fried dessert.
