Cantina Spinelli is a family winery that was founded in 1973 by Vincenzo Spinelli.  His sons, Carlo and Adriano joined the business full time ten years later.  They are one of the main wine producers in Abruzzo today having undergone continued growth and expansion over the years all while maintaining a deep connection to family and tradition with the goal of making quality affordable wines.  They have a large ultramodern proprietary winery, with a state of the art barrel cellar for ageing wines.  

The estate is located in the region of Chieti in the Val di Sangro and the Frentane hills in Abruzzo, between the Maiella mountain and the Adriatic Sea.  The climate here is Mediterranean; warm and ventilated, with dry breezes from the sea and significant temperature fluctuations from day to night. 

Tasting Notes

Pleasant scents of exotic fruit blend with delicate floral notes. The palate is light bodied with good concentration and structure and overall very fresh and balanced.  This crisp Pinot Grigio makes and excellent aperitif or to sip with seafood, it also pairs well with delicate meat dishes.  

Method

Made from 100% Pinot Grigio grapes grown in the province of Chieti in Abruzzo, between the Maiella National Park and the Adriatic Sea.  The landscape is hilly, with an average altitude of 230 metres above sea level, with mostly calcareous clay soil.  The grapes are softly pressed and fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks.
