Armagnac is France’s oldest wine based eau-de-vie, produced in the southwest of France, with over 700 years of History. Today there are 800 producers, 500 of which are independently owned, including Castarede. Founded in 1832 they are still family owned, with Florence Castarede is at the helm making her the sixth generation Armagnac producer.
Tasting Notes
Bright amber in the glass. Pronounced dried fruit and sweet tobacco on the nose. The palate is rich and smooth. This would be a delicious addition to elevate a cocktail but is just as enjoyable on the rocks.
Method
After a traditional vinification, where no additional sulphur is added, the base wine is distilled in a traditional Armagnacais still. Castarede’s VS Armagnac ages for a minimum of three years in oak, exceeding the required minimum of one year in oak according to the quality control regulations.

Excellent and great value at the price, The 3-yr. wood aging ameliorates any presence of sulfites, happy for those sensitive to same. About to purchase my 2nd. bottle.
