The estate is located in the commune of Lancié, which is the only Beaujolais Villages commune to be completely surrounded by Beaujolais Crus. Its closest neighbours are AOC Fleurie, Morgon, Chiroubles and Moulins à Vent. The Beaujolais Villages appellation area comprises 40 villages in northern Beaujolais. Andre Colonge et Fils produce a benchmark Beaujolais Villages that has all the freshness, charm and vitality one expects from this appellation.
Tasting Notes
This wine shows all the freshness and red fruit one expects to encounter in Beaujolais. The nose expresses aromas of crunchy red fruit and spice while the palate evokes the same red fruit and snappy freshness with silky smooth soft tannins and notes of strawberry jam on the finish. The lightness of body and balance of fruit and acidity make this an easy to enjoy any occasion red. Best served slightly chilled (but not too cold). Delicious on its own and pairs well with terrines, cold meats, cooked sausage, roast chicken dinner, rabbit fricassee, and soft cheeses.
Method
This Beaujolais Villages cuvée was made from selected Gamay grapes grown on granite and silica clay soils. The average age of the vines is 45 years old. The wine is made via semi-carbonic maceration, so expect some cherry nibs, but not full on bubblegum and banana.
