The Tatamagouche Brewing Company (commonly referred to as “Tata”) is a family owned and operated craft brewery located in the heart of Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia. In 2014, the family converted an old butcher shop into a brewery, and have since added several additions to the sides and back of the building to help accommodate their growth. In 2023 the brewery launched Nomad, a line of alcohol-free beer. Tata Brew have won awards provincially as well as nationally while they continue to grow their team and brand.
Tasting Notes
This Belgian ale is bright in flavour, starting with a burst of apricot, and finishes clean and light. The mixed fermentation yeast culture adds deep layers of plums and white grape, while the oak barrels give a subtle vanilla that helps round out the tart fruit flavours. Taka is refreshing yet complex, easily crushed or considered!
Method
The Belgian Grisette is often considered the “little sibling” to the Saison. Both have high carbonation, a dry finish, and some degree of Belgian yeast character. However, Grisettes often have a lower and more sessionable alcohol range, usually in the 2.5%-4.5% range.
Introducing Taka, a crisp Belgian grisette aged for 6 months on apricots after spending a year in neutral oak barrels.
