Segura Viudas is one of Spain’s most nationally recognised wine brands. Tasting Notes
Segura Viudas Brut Reserva, created from a blend of reserve and non-vintage wines, is clean and delicate, yet rich in flavour. This fine cuvée is fairly crisp with an interesting floral note and mouth-pleasing sensation of creaminess. This is a versatile Cava. Crisp, refreshing and perfect for every occasion.
Method
Made from 50% Macabeo, 30% Xarello, and 20% Parellada, the grapes come from a number of vineyards in the region. Grapes are whole pressed; first and second fermentations are carried out using selected yeasts and the final blend is comprised of eight different wines (four of the wines age on their lees in stainless steel for three months). The final blend sees a minimum 15 months of aging in contact with its lees before release.
Our Thoughts
It’s not the first time I’m recommending this sparkling wine; I love Champagne and it’s not easy to find a balance between the dryness, taste, right alcohol, and price but this includes everything! I don’t usually try to mix anything with it but I have used it in cocktails and it works great. I often bring it to friends’ houses as it is very approachable and enjoyable all on its own. It’s fresh, sparkly, and has a great taste. The bottle looks nice as well, so people love getting it as a hostess gift. Sparkling wine is something that gets the party started and makes us feel like we’re getting into the spirit of celebrating. I just love it!
