In the spirit of our focus on South America this month, we’re excited to offer a sampling of South America’s diverse wine offerings. This Saturday’s tasting features Malbec, Argentina’s signature grape and quickly making a new name for itself with red wine lovers. Malbec ripens mid-season and can bring very deep colour, ample tannin, and a unique plum-like flavour. Join us to taste two very different wines from sun-soaked Argentina.
This wine is a bordeaux-inspired blend of of 90% Malbec, 9% Merlot and 1% Petit-Verdot. This wine boasts lots of black cherry, currant, plum and currant on the nose with a suave texture and black fruit, violet and chocolate flavours on the palate.
Made from 80-year-old vines, this Malbec shows floral and fruit notes with a harmonic body and very good structure. The wine expresses a dark-fruit intensity and a long, spicy finish with vanilla and chocolate undertones.
