Nestled in the vineyards of Saint-Emilion, 5 km away from the historical village, Château Fleur de Lisse is a lovely family estate where the owner Caroline Teycheney and her team make wonderful wines. The estate dates back to the 1850s and was one of the largest vineyards in Saint Étienne de Lisse in the early twentieth century. From 1940 to 2015 it belonged to the Minvielle family, who over the years modernized the cellars and built a successful wine business. In 2015, the château was acquired by the Teycheney family, who already owned Château La Loubière and, being passionately interested in farming and wine converted to biodynamic farming methods.
Tasting Notes
An expressive bouquet of red berries, cassis and blackberry is followed by a full and succulent mouthfeel. The opulent fruit resulting from the dominance of Merlot in the blend is perfectly balanced by Cabernet Franc’s aromatic lift, freshness and refined tannins creating pleasing tension on the palate. The finish is refined, with discreet back-of palate notes of light toast and wood smoke. Enjoy this elegant Bordeaux with grilled meat, lamb chops or blue cheese for a decadent taste experience.
Method
A blend of 69% Merlot and 41% Cabernet Franc, from vines that are on average age of 40 years old grown on well draining clay and silt soil. Hand harvested and fermented in a combination of stainless steel and cement tanks. The wine ages for a period in barrels, 50% of which are new oak.
