Over 30 years ago, Jack Cakebread came to photograph the Napa Valley for a book later that afternoon he purchased a vineyard site and Cakebread Cellars was born. The winery is a leader in innovative farming techniques and new methods of reaching out to consumers. Dedication to making the highest quality wines and a commitment to family has followed a continuum as their first small vineyard has grown into a thriving internationally distributed wine company

Tasting Notes

Perfumed aromas of fresh melon, yellow apple, lime and white peach, with complementary mineral and toasty-spicy oak scents. On the full-bodied, yet sleek palate, the wine offers concentrated, beautifully focused, peach, apple and citrus zest flavors, with mineral and spice tones enlivening the long, refreshing finish. Delightful now will drink beautifully for another 3 to 5 years.

The grapes are harvested at night in small batches at perfect maturity. The fruit, cool from the evening temperatures, was pressed directly into tank using whole cluster pressing then the juice was transferred to into French oak barrels to ferment. In order to achieve maximum fruit expression, we aged the wine on primary yeast lees for eight months with intermittent stirring of the lees to enhance texture and boost complexity. 13% of the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation.

The power of a new world chardonnay without the weight or wood. Fresh on the palate without an abundance of acidity. A well-made wine that you can enjoy, from cork to empty glass. Just the right amount of fullness with lots of interesting fruit and aromatics. The best part – the long finish … that looks for more. A great evening
