For over 100 years, the Cocchi winery has been cemented as one of Italy’s greatest producers of vermouths, and aperitivos. Based in Asti, a small town in Northern Italy that is the captitol of Moscato wine. Today the winery still maintains its artisan character and follows the original recipes, formulated by Giulio Cocchi in 1891, to craft the distinctive wines that have made the Cocchi a cult name. The Cocchi Extra Dry White was created to celebrate Cocchi’s 130th anniversary.
Tasting Notes
From the distillery: “Cocchi Extra Dry is an extremely elegant stand-alone vermouth with fresh apple, melon and white flower notes from the wine, beautifully balance with the aromatic botanical notes of cardamom, wormwood, coriander and angelica. The Piedmontese mint and lemon peels bring herbaceous notes and brightness to the palate, creating a unique personality.”
Method
Created using a base wine made from Cortese, all the important ingredients used in this vermouth come from Piedmont. This vermouth was crafted to be a truly classic style from the birthplace of vermouth, Cocchi’s home, Piedmonte. Noticeable on the nose the aromatic Menta di Pancalieri, a local variety of mint.
Excellent for use in any classic cocktails, but shines on it’s own over ice or with tonic water.
