Quails’ Gate has been owned and operated by the Stewart family since 1956.  Located in the Okanagan Valley it boasts 160 acres of incredible soil  below the extinct volcano of Mount Boucherie.  Its deposits work like a time release capsule. Combined with warm summers and mild winters, the volcanic rocks have decomposed and recombined into soluble molecules that are easily separated into their elements and accessible to plants – including vineyards. The result is some of the richest agricultural land on the planet.
Bishop’s Cellar sold Quails’ Gate wines when they first opened their doors in 2003 and is pleased to have these iconic and delicious wines back on the shelf after a hiatus.

Tasting Notes

Pale lemon in the glass, expect aromas of ripe orchard fruit, brioche and a hint of minerality. The palate is bursting with bright stone fruit flavours along with a hint of butterscotch and citrus. This wine has very good intensity, a nice texture and beautiful mouthwatering acidity. This is a wonderfully versatile food wine. Pair with lemon roasted chicken, seafood risotto, or creamy butternut squash soup.

Method

100% Chardonnay, this is a blend of reputable French clones grown on differing terroir on the Quails’ Gate estate.  A beautifully crafted wine with the vast majority kept in stainless steel to maintain the bright, fresh, vivid fruit notes. A small percentage was kept in older oak to add texture, mouthfeel and subtle oak influences.
