Nestled in Blackford, Scotland, Tullibardine’s history dates as far back as the 1400s, where the buildings formerly housed a brewery – even serving beer to King James 4th of Scotland! Flash forward to 1947 when the brewery was converted into a distillery, producing its first drop of spirit in 1949. Despite the distillery changing hands a few times over the years since, Tullibardine’s reputation for the highest quality Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky hasn’t wavered.
Tasting Notes
From the distillery: “The Sovereign is beautifully golden with its floral, sweet barley notes and subtle hints of vanilla. On the finish there is fudge, pear drops and soft spice.”
Method
Tullibardine’s Signature Single Malt has been matured in first-fill ex-Bourbon Barrels.
Our Thoughts
Nose: Green apple and pear. Vanilla and custard. Fresh oak. White chocolate.
Palate: Light-bodied, with a creamy texture. Slightly sweet on the palate. Nose follows through with lots of ripe fruit and vanilla.
Finish: Long finish of baking spices and brown sugar
Anything that’s straight up bourbon barrels makes (in my mind) a nice, uncomplicated sipping scotch. Good for anytime and anyone.
