Zenato is a historic and well respected name in Northern Italy’s Veneto region. Sergio Zenato started the winery in 1960 and today the family tradition in winemaking is carried on by his children Alberto and Nadia. The estate produces a range of white and red wines.
Ripe blackberry and plum notes accompanied by aromatic herbs and nuances of cocoa and baking spice. The palate is full with ripe sweet red and black berry fruit, soft smooth tannins and medium acidity.
The Merlot grapes are harvested by hand in mid September, sorted, pressed and destemmed before a 5 to 6 day maceration and fermentation in stainless steel. When the alcoholic fermentation is over, the wine is racked off the lees and malolactic fermentation takes place. The wine rests for a period in French barriques and Slavonian oak barrels.
