Mastrojanni Brunello di Montalcino

Historically the land of Montalcino was poorly populated and hardly cultivated; it was a land of sheep farmers.  It was here in 1975 that lawyer, Gabriele Mastrojanni bought the San Pio and Loreto estates and decided to plant his first vineyards, of which part are still producing Mastrojanni wines today.  In the early years, only a few entered the wine-making adventure in Montalcino.  Today, thanks to an exceptional terroir and the pioneers who believed in its winemaking potential for decades, Mastrojanni finds itself amongst the most respected Montalcino producers.  It is here that the singular Sangiovese Grosso grape is at its best.  Today Andrea Machetti is the head of the estate and works alongside winemaker Maurizio Castelli.  They oversee all production processes and take a minimal interventionist approach in their winemaking; striving to showcase the Montalcino terroir as it is best expressed through the Sangiovese Grosso grape.

Domaine Vacheron Sancerre

The Vacherons are arguably Sancerre’s leading winemaking family.  From their pioneering work in identifying and exploiting the region’s top terroirs to their leading position in biodynamic viticulture today, there are few if any artisans in Sancerre as exacting or as respected.

Great-grandfather Maurice Vacheron tended a few vines back when Sancerre was but a stop on a village road.  His son, Jean, was the first of the family to specialize in producing wine, paying particular attention to the influence of terroir on Sauvignon Blanc.  Jean’s sons, Denis and Jean-Louis, further solidified the Vacheron name in Sancerre.  Today, Denis’ son, Jean-Laurent, and Jean-Louis’ son, Jean-Dominique, have taken the estate to a whole new level of quality, championing biodynamic viticulture and selecting singular vineyard parcels that the family has observed for generations to bottle as single-vineyard wines.  Their goal is to highlight the uniqueness of each site and showcase the heights that Sancerre can reach.

Champagne Taittinger Comtes de Champagne

Taittinger is one of Champagne’s great houses. It was founded in 1734 by Jacques Fourneaux whose vision grew into the large company it is today.

Taittinger Champagne is characterized by its high proportion of Chardonnay used in the blends. It is this unique style, which has been present since the outset; the style that the tasting panel always scrupulously seek to maintain. The house produces a few styles; both non vintage as well as exceptional vintage dated Champagnes.

In 1952, the Taittinger Champagne House created the Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs – its most exclusive and premium cuvée – in honour of the Comtes de Champagne, a descendant of Charlemagne, Thibault IV, for whom the residence was built in the 13th century in Reims.
