The Lenotti family has been producing wines in the Veneto since 1906 in Bardolino, the area around Verona and Lake Garda. Since 1968, the farm has been bottling and selling the wines directly with the main goal of supplying clients with high quality products at competitive prices. At present the estate is run by the Giancarlo Lenotti (oenologist , production manager and facilities supervisor), Marina Lenotti (sales manager for the home market), and their son Claudio (export manager). They export 90% of their production.
Tasting Notes
This is a well structured wine but also very easy to drink, appealing to many palates and can easily pair with a range of foods; from lighter fare to more substantial meals. Expect bright red fruit, medium tannins and fresh acidity; notes of almond, field berries and a light wood notes, medium bodied and elegant. It’s best enjoyed at true cellar temperature and can be consumed now but could age for another 5 years.
Method
This wine comes from the Valpolicella Classico DOC, a hilly territory located at the foothills of Monte Lessini, which form the Venetian Alps. The “classico” designation signifies that the wine is from the original wine growing area for Valpolicella, this is the hilliest and considered to be the best growing area.
A blend of Corvinone, Corvina and Rondinella from the family’s estate vineyard, La Grolla di Sant’Ambrogio; rich in clay and limestone that give the grapes great structure and colour. Traditional fermentation with maceration for about 6-7 days and a short ageing period of 6-8 months in large barrels, 2500 liter oak casks.
