The brain child of John Glaser, Compass Box has changed the scotch whisky industry by challenging consumers perceptions of blended whisky. Calling themselves “Whiskymakers” and not “blenders” they offer the notion that blending isn’t just loosely mixing liquid. This is an art and requires a refined palate as well as an in depth understanding of scotch whisky. They accomplished what they set out to do, Compass Box is one of the most in demand whiskies, repeatedly showing in Whisky Advocates Top 20 lists. Compass Box’s Glasgow Blend pays tribute to Glaswegians’ penchant for peatier drams, a concept first noted by author Aeneas MacDonald in his 1930s novel “Whisky”.
