Antonelli is a winemaking and farming state woth over 170 hectares located withing Montefalco’s DOCG winemaking area. The Antonelli family is committed to caring for their land, they practice organic viticulture, and has always been attentive to the quality of their products. They create authentic wines of great drinkability. They lean towards gentle extraction and moderate use of wood to focus on elegance rather than blunt power in their wines.
The baiocco is an ancient coin of the Papal States, of which Umbria was a part of.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, brilliant ruby red in colour with a nose that opens with red fruit and floral notes. The palate is lively and balanced expressing cherry flavours and a fresh bright fruit finish. This is an everyday kind of wine. It goes well with charcuterie and cheeses, light pasta dishes to main courses.
Method
This wine is a blend of 90% Sangiovese and 10% Merlot, both hand picked at optimal ripeness and vinified in stainless steel with 14 days on the skins. The wine ages for another 12 months and is then bottle aged for 3 months.
