Tasting Notes
CreamsicleSmoothTropical
Found in the east end of downtown of St. John’s, Bannerman Brewing is a locally owned and operated brewery, tasting room, cafe and event space. Home to a lighthearted crew, they have a passion for crafting artisanal beer and sharing it with our community.
To know the story of our brewery is to know the history of their neighbourhood. Long before the brewery poured first beer, Bannerman Brewing Co. was the location of the city’s historic East Fire Station. Originally constructed after the Great Fire of 1892, it was rebuilt in the 1950s and still stands today at the corner of Duckworth and Ordnance Street
Tasting Notes
A lactose IPA heavily dry-hopped with Citra and Sabro. Conditioned on coconut and pineapple, this tiki beer has a smooth mouth feel and fresh, tropical flavours.
Method
Milkshake IPA is a style that was created in the 2010’s where lactose sugar is added, and since lactose sugar can’t be fermented by brewers yeast it leaves behind a creamy texture in the finished beer. Vanilla bean is also often added to amplify the cream, confectionery flavours. The Milkshake IPA is a full-flavoured foundation to build rich and decadent flavours on; in this case, Pineapple and Coconut.
