Blue Mountain Vineyard and Cellars is owned and operated by the Mavety family in the South Okanagan.  They produce a range of terroir driven still and sparkling wines using only their estate grown grapes.  Blue Mountain’s strong focus on viticulture across the site and the potential for each variety allows for an increased representation of individual terroir when the grapes reach the winery.  A deliberate refinement of the winemaking process has allowed Blue Mountain to more clearly capture the identity of each of the vineyard blocks.

Tasting Notes

The Brut “Gold Label” has a fine mousse, with lemon and toasty character on the nose and across the palate, with a crisp lemon finish.

Method

Made from 100% estate grown grapes.  Manual thinning is practiced in the vineyard to reduce the crop yield and produce a more concentrated and higher quality grape.  The grapes are hand harvested and whole cluster pressed.  Each variety is fermented separately.  This is a blend of about 35% Pinot Noir and 66% Chardonnay.  After the initial fermentation the wines are blended and re-inoculated with yeast and bottled to go through secondary fermentation.  Post secondary fermentation, the wine is left to age sur-lie for 24 months. The wine is disgorged and finished dry in the classic Brut style (about 8g/L RS) then left for approximately 6 to 9 months prior to release.
