Good Robot hosted the Craft Brewers Association this year to brew the annual iteration of “Together We Brew”. This event takes place every year at a different brewery with dozens of local craft brewers. The style of beer often changes each year, but for 2025 the brewers decided on a classic English Best Bitter. A style with a long history in our province.
Tasting Notes
Pouring a rich copper colour with long lasting ivory foam that leads into classic Best Bitter aromas of caramel, toffee, lightly toasted malt notes and subtle earthy floral hop character. Palate is smooth, balanced, and easy drinking. Best Bitters pair exceptionally well with fried and roasted foods, but the best of all is with Fish and Chips.
Method
ESB stands for “extra special bitter.” This style is known for its balance and the interplay between malt and hop bitterness. English pale ales display earthy, herbal English-variety hop character. Medium to high hop bitterness, flavour and aroma should be evident. The yeast strains used in these beers lend a fruitiness to their aromatics and flavour, referred to as esters. The residual malt and defining sweetness of this richly flavoured and medium bodied.
