The Cortese family has been championing the wines of Barbaresco since 1971. The family has been growing grapes and producing quality Barbaresco for three generations. Like all good vignerons, they practice great vineyard management and a careful selection of grapes at harvest. The take a traditional approach to winemaking while judiciously employing modern techniques during the process. All of these intentional steps are aimed at producing quality wines that truly express the terroir of Barbaresco and define the unique personality Giuseppe Cortese wines.
Tasting Notes
Classic and typical aromas of widl berries, forest floor, violet mingle with rhubarb, liquorice and mild spice notes. High quality fruit is complimented by thoughtful oak usage creating a beautiful bouquet as well as succulent palate with pleasing texture with classic Nebbiolo flavour, structure and persistence. Enjoy this with dishes that incoorporate truffle or porcini mushrooms, polenta with sausages or gorgonzola cheese, pasta in a meat sauce or roast or braised beef with root vegetables.
Method
Giuseppe Cortese Nebbiolo made from the younger vines (between 15 and 20 years old) grown in the Rabajà vineyard; the same vineyard that produces the grapes for their renowned Barbaresco. After fermentation, the wine ages for 12 months in oak barrels of different sizes and ages.
