Lightfoot & Wolfville is owned and operated by the Lightfoot family who have been farming in the Annapolis Valley for eight generations. Lightfoot & Wolfville brings a light touch and enlightened approach to both the agricultural and artisanal aspects of viticulture and winemaking. They work in harmony with nature and letting the land offer up its innate best, without subjecting it to aggressive inputs. The winery is located on the home farm site, this land has been in Michael’s family for four generations.
Tasting Notes
Fauna is a fruit-driven red blend with bright, berried lushness and a lightness in structure indicative of our ultra cool-climate in Nova Scotia. Deep ruby red in the glass. Juicy dark fruit – plum, dark cherry, and violet on the nose. Light-to-medium bodied, Fauna is a quaffable and refreshing style of cool-climate red. Enjoy slightly chilled (14-16°C).
Method
A grower’s blend composed of cold-hardy red varieties including Léon Millot, Marquette & Petite Pearl. A partial carbonic maceration (∼50%) contributes amplified fruit flavours, velvety texture and immediate drinkability. 11% abv.
