Antonelli Montefalco Grechetto
Nestled in the heart of Perugia, the astonishing 190 ha (469 acres) estate was purchased by the Antonelli family in 1881; with 10 ha dedicated to olive groves, and 50 ha covered by vineyards. Francesco Antonelli, a lawyer from Spoleto, began what the winery refers to as a”radical transformation and modernization of the planting and farming” of the property. Documentation from 1899 proves that 5000 vines per ha were planted, with red varietals showing more promise. As one of the historic wineries of the Montefalco DOCG region, the winery only cultivates varietals indigenous to their land; for white wine, Grechetto and Trebbiano Spolentino, for red wine, Sangiovese and Sagrantino.
In 2009, the winery decided to convert to organic farming and winemaking- a process they’ve used for extra virgin olive oil cultivation and production for years. It took them three years to fully convert, achieving the certification is 2012.

Gimonnet is a grower Champagne house with more vineyard acreage in the Côte des Blancs than any other recoltant manipulant; 69 acres. The Gimmonets have many old-vine parcels in 30 acres of some of the Côte des Blancs’ choicest grands crus, but the house makes no Champagnes that meet grand cru regulations, rather chose to blend from different sites in order to craft their desired style. All of their reserve wines used for their NV are housed in bottles rather then the more common practice of keeping reserve wines in tanks.

Org de Rac was one of the first wine farms in South Africa committed to 100% certified organic wine-farming. Today it is one of only 18 local wine producers certified for the making of wines from organically farmed grapes. From the outset, Org de Rac’s motive for organic farming was our conviction that the best, healthiest grapes make the finest wines.
The farm was purchased in 2001 by Nico Bacon, an entrepreneur in the South African fishing industry who had a vision of establishing a wine farm committed to offering local and international consumers premier wines made from organically grown grapes. The first vines were planted in 2002. During the establishing of Org de Rac the best-known specialists were brought into the fold to direct the operation and to assist in achieving the ultimate goal. Soil classifications showed the physical structure and chemical analysis which determine which grape varieties are suitable for planting. The viticulturists used the assessments of the soil types and decision of which rootstock to attach on the correct variety to plant on the specific sites.
Org de Rac is located in Swartland, one of South Africa’s most famous and oldest wine-farming regions and situated outside the town of Piketberg some 130km north of Cape Town and on the very northern edge of the Swartland region. Its vineyards are south-facing and grow in isolation, fanned by the cooling westerly breezes of the icy Atlantic Ocean situated 50km away.
