GEANTET-PANSIOT Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes

The Geantet-Pansiot Estate was founded in 1954 by Edmond Geantet and Bernadette Pansiot. It started out as a small 3 hectare parcel of vineyards. After having expanded the domain by gradually buying other vines, Edmond’s son Vincent joined the estate in 1977. Vincent Geantet is one of the most competent winemakers in Gevrey-Chambertin today.

Gevrey-Chambertin is a French wine commune, located 15km south of Dijon in the department of the Cote d’Or and the region of Burgundy. It is the most northerly of the well-known communes in Burgundy and the wines are typically well-structured. Domaine Geantet farms about 12 hectares of vineyards today in various appellations. Vincent’s son Fabien has since joined the team.

D'Ardhuy Clos des Langres

The Domaine traces its recent history to 1947 when Gabriel d’Ardhuy and Eliane André met, married and established the Domaine d’Ardhuy. Gabriel went on to acquire prized parcels of land in wine areas such as Puligny-Montrachet, Gevrey-Chambertin, Clos de Vougeot and even Corton-Charlemagne.  Gabriel and Eliane passed on their passion for vineyards to their 7 daughters who today, with a team of equally passionate wine lovers, proudly keep the tradition of environmentally friendly viticulture and respect for the terroir they have inherited.  Domaine d’Arhuy’s own vineyards stretch all the way from Gevrey-Chambertin in the north to Puligny-Montrachet in the south and in between there are plots in vineyards such as Clos de Vougeot, Savigny-lès-Beaune, Pommard and Meursault amongst others. This wide range of terroirs includes land in 6 different Grand Cru Appellations (5 of them on the famous Hill of Corton), 15 Premier Cru Appellations and 15 Village Appellations.

All the vineyard holdings of Domaine d’Ardhuy were certified Organic and Biodynamic from the 2012 vintage onwards. However, after several challenging vintages due to the vagaries of the weather we made the decision in 2018 to put certification temporarily to one side in order to revamp our agricultural practices. Through their continuing respect for Terroir and the environment the aim is gradually to return to Organic certification from 2023. From the 2019 vintage they have been certified HEV Level 3 (High Environmental Value).

Thomas Farge Collines Rhodaniennes - Les Jardins de Chavagnac

Lovers of Rhône wines will likely be familiar with the name Farge; Guy Farge crafted wines in this region for over 25 years.  His son Thomas has since taken the reins at the family winery making him the fifth generation Farge at the head of the estate.  With Thomas at the helm of the Domaine, he began the conversion to organic farming as well as incorporating practices of biodynamic farming which he finds important for the connection it gives him to the land.

The wines under Domaine Thomas Farge are originating from the estate and based on plot selections.  In order to understand better its terroirs, Thomas introduced a plot-by-plot approach in terms of viticulture that is then followed in the cellar.  Working along with the lunar calendar and mostly by hand and horse, Thomas has been working on reducing its vineyards input at the very
minimum. Treatments are limited to copper and sulfur. In the cellar, Thomas has introduced the use of raw concrete and is experimenting on vinifications without sulfur. Thomas is accompanied in his quest for excellence by Emmanuel Gagnepain, one of the leading consulting winemakers of the Rhone valley specializing in organic and biodynamic properties.

Guy Farge Cornas - Harmonie

This is a family story that began in 1920, when Henri Farge bought 12 hectares of vines from a Norman general.  He cultivated grapes and sold them to the local cooperative cellar, as did his son and his grandson André Farge.  Guy Farge was to follow and he took over the management of his family estate in 1980. Originally he sold his fruit to the Cave de Tain (where he worked).  In 2007, he began producing wines under his own label. Each year, the wines have grown and evolved as has Guy’s winemaking prowess.   In 2018, after having worked for years alongside his father, Guy’s eldest son Thomas took over the domaine.  Thomas keeps the style of the house, and always seeks wines with freshness and terroir. “Summers are getting hotter and hotter, it’s up to us winegrowers to keep the typicality of our terroir,” emphasizes Thomas. Thomas and each bottling represents some of the best this granitic soil.
