An Amaro recognized world round. Amaro Lucano’s name comes from the historical name “Lucania” which today is known as the Basilicata region. Created by Pasquele Vena when he returned home to Italy after working as a pastry chef in America, the recipe was perfected in 1894 after finally mixing the right combination of 30 different herbs. Since then, it has been passed down through generations of Vena family, coming into modern day still the same carefully crafted Amaro.
Tasting Notes
An intense golden hue with notes of orange peel, wormwood, spice and quince on the nose. Floral and citrussy on the palate, with balanced balsamic and herbal flavours.
Method
Made from 30 different botanicals including orange, wormwood, gentian, muscatel sage, aloe ferox, angelica, elderflower and rue. The botanicals are steeped in alcohol and water at a controlled temperature, before being tested to ensure quality and consistency, it is then filtered and bottled.
