Belvedere is marketed as the world’s first super premium vodka and is owned and produced by luxury conglomerate LVMH. Although the distillery has been in production since 1910, It was first launched in the United States in 1996. Since then, in accordance to its ultra premium status, has been endorsed by numerous celebrities and went on to be the official Vodka of the James Bond film, Spectre. This distinctly Polish vodka draws its name from Belweder Palace which is one of the official residences used by Polish presidents and visiting heads of state.
Tasting Notes
From the distillery: Soft and inviting, with notes of vanilla and cream. Full and round with a medium body and a naturally smooth, rich and velvety texture. Light vanilla notes sway between sweet and savory, with a hint of black pepper and spice.
Method
Meant to be colourless, odourless and neutral Vodka can be made from many different base ingredients, but traditionally cereal grains or potatoes are used. Fermentation takes place (water+yeast+base ingredient) which creates the base alcoholic liquid The base liquid is then distilled into a “purer” spirit. Depending on the distillery’s preference, this process can be repeated again and again. After distillation the spirit is filtered through (typically) charcoal, removing any leftover impurities, leaving you with a clean product. This remaining product is high in alcohol and water is then added to bring the vodka down to a desired ABV, usually 40%.
Belvedere is made entirely from Dankowskie rye and is distilled four times for exceptional purity and clarity and diluted with well water. Produced in accordance with the strict regional controls of the Polska Wódka designation that requires all grains and water must be Polish in origin and each step of the production process must occur on Polish soil.
