You’ll find Brancaia in the heart of Tuscany’s Chianti Classico area, encompassing three estates: Brancaia (Castellina), Poppi (Radda) and Brancaia in Maremma (Grosseto). Brancais has been owned and operated by Swiss couple Brigitte and Bruno Widmer since 1981. The estate came to instant fame with its outstanding 1983 Chianti Classico. Since then, through uncompromising dedication to quality, Brancaia’s wines continue to stand out and command the attention and praise of Tuscan wine lovers and international wine critics. In addition to their powerful Chianti Classico, they produce a range of Supertuscans that have garnered cult status.

Tasting Notes

Finally, we have a white wine from one of Tuscany’s most prestigious Supertuscan producers. Il Bianco is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Gewurtztraminer, Semillon and Viognier. It does not undergo malolactic fermentation and ages for just 5 months on the yeast lees, so the wine retains its zesty acidity and freshness. This shows more of Sauvignon Blanc’s bright character than the more intense aromatic varieties in the blend. It is clean and with a nice mouthfilling texture. This would be delicious with Lobster, Scallops, Seafood Chowder, Pad Thai, white meats.
