Ca’Marcanda is Angelo Gaja’s (of Barbaresco, Piemonte) estate in Bolgheri, southern Tuscany. Gaja saw the potential in Bolgheri for producing top quality wines back in 1994 and he established a winery there in 1996. Today the estate extends over an area of approximately 80 hectares of vineyards in Bolgheri’s DOC appellation. Although Angelo, who is now in his mid 80s, is still involved in the family’s wine businesses, Angelo’s children are at the helm of his estates.
Tasting Notes
Vibrant and nuanced on the nose and palate. Aromas of dark cherry, mocha, dried herbs, anise, mint and balsamic notes. The palate is medium to full bodied, fresh with smooth ripe tannins and a long finish.
Method
Magari is one of Angelo Gaja’s iconic wines from his estate in Bolgheri Tuscany. It is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc and is characterized by brightness and concentration typical of this coastal terroir and the breezes from the Tyrrhenian Sea.
