The vineyards of Chateau Clamens are located at the entrance to Toulouse, on the sandy loam and clay soil of the old terraces of the river Tarn which offers good heat retention. Coupled with a favourable climate – over 2,000 hours of sunshine a year, fairly cool nights and little but regular rainfall.

Tasting Notes

This cuvee is a very brillant ruby red. Very pleasant on the nose, this wine gives off a red berry scent mixed with spicy notes. Delightful and medium-bodied, this wine develops a certain roundness balanced by a beautiful liveliness. Fresh and light, ideal with a cocktail aperitif.

Method

Made from Merlot and Syrah, the grapes come from vineyards that use sustainable farming practices. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel and the wine rests in steel prior to bottling and release.

I loved this. I’ll buy it again. I’ve added it to my wish list. The description is spot on: spicy, delightful, medium-bodied roundness balanced by liveliness. Excellent value. 🙂

We really enjoy this wine. Very nice body. I think a wee bit more full that medium — which is exactly how we like it. I recommend allowing it a minimum of 30 minutes to breathe before drinking.
