The Lenotti family has been producing wines in the Veneto since 1906 in Bardolino, the area around Verona and Lake Garda.   Since 1968, the farm has been bottling and selling the wines directly with the main goal of supplying clients with high quality products at competitive prices. At present the estate is run by the Giancarlo Lenotti (oenologist , production manager and facilities supervisor), Marina Lenotti (sales manager for the home market), and their son Claudio (export manager).  They export 90% of their production.

Tasting Notes

A pronounced aroma of red fruit, forest, leather and spice.  It is overall fine, fragrant and delicately ethereal, with pleasing wood scents. The palate is savoury, full-bodied and velvety.  Can be enjoyed now or age for another 8 years.  Pairs well with roast meats, game, heary pastas and mature cheeses.

Method

“Ripasso” refers to a traditional winemaking technique from the Valpolicella area where dried grapes (used for Amarone production) are added to fermenting Valpolicella wine to obtain fuller bodies, more structured and concentrated wine.  This one is a blend of Corvina (70%), Rondinella (25%) and others red grapes (5%) from the classic area of Valpolicella north of Verona from the hills of the villages of Negrar, Valgatara and Fumane.  The grapes grow on limestone and clay soil of glacial and alluvial origin.  After harvest they are softly pressed and the first fermentation happens in October for 8-10 days at a controlled temperature, the wine rests for three months in stainless tanks.  The “Ripasso” refermentation happens in February/March.  The wine then ages in wood butts for one year before bottling.
