Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon has put down roots just about everywhere grapes grow and has become a component of many of the world’s most popular wines. Although the exact origin of the grape is unknown, the Bordeaux region of France and California’s Napa Valley have made Cabernet famous.

Perfect when you’re looking for full-bodied, rich red wine to enjoy on its own or with big, hearty dishes.

We love Cabernet Sauvignon at Bishop’s Cellar and carry a huge selection from around the globe.

Order online and have it delivered to your door anywhere in Nova Scotia or collect in store with our convenient same-day curbside pickup

Footprint Cabernet Sauvignon

The idea for African Pride Wines came in 2002, with a goal to create a range of wines that offer great value and character while staying true to South African wine style and terrior. With grapes sourced from contacted producers in Stellenbosch, Worcester, Wellington, and Paarl, the portfolio has grown since its inception and their wines are now available in over 30 countries with 100,000 cases produced per year.

Footprint, Forager, and Just Nuisance make up their core lineup and all are overseen by winemaker and shareholder Mike Graham. Some 44+ harvests under his belt (the majority in South Africa and some in France), Mike was one of the first “flying winemakers,” alluding to his stints at different wineries in both Europe and home in South Africa.

Bouchon Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon

Bouchon Family Vineyards’ history began with an adventurous young French man’s dream almost a century and a half ago. Emile Bouchon left his little home of small winegrowers in Arveyres, near Burdeos, France, to board on a ship, towards Chile in the spring of 1887.  Emile came hired as a winemaker adviser and throughout many years of efforts, he was able to purchase an antique wine cellar in Colchagua Valley, turning it into one of the most prominent vineyards of that time.  His children and eventually his grandson would continue his legacy.  His grandson Julio studied enology in Bordeaux and expanded the Bouchon project. He fell in love with the granitic soils in the interior dry area in Maule Valley, acquiring Mingre state in 1977, a distant property, which had old dry farmed vineyards.

Today the winery is operated by the fourth generation of the Bouchon family and a team of expert viticulturalists and winemakers working on continued innovation in the vineyards and winery.  They are in the process of acquiring organic certification for their vineyards and wines, though some of their vineyards are currently certified organic.

Montes Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon

In 1987, Aurelio Montes and Douglas Murray, both highly experienced wine professionals, wanted to realize their dream of producing Chilean wines a quantum-leap higher in quality than the standards of the time and were the first winery to officially make a premium wine with their 1987 Montes Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon.  In 1988, they joined up with the other two founders, Alfredo Vidaurre and Pedro Grand, who brought their own complementary skills and expertise to the venture.  Montes is a pioneer in the Chilean wine industry and today produces a range of wines in various category levels, from entry level easy drinking wines to premium and ultra premium wines.

Villa Cafaggio Cortaccio

With records that date back to 1408, Villa Cafaggio’s estate was then referred to as “Cahago,” which means “enclosed, cultivated field.” Later in the fifteenth century, there was evidence to suggest that the property was owned by Benedictine monks of Siena. After the monks, the property would have many owners (most notably, the famous Niccolini family of Florence) but one of the more intriguing owners would be the Florentine Hospital of Santa Maria Nuova; it was believed that various fruits and vegetables were farmed during their time of ownership, along with the cultivation and production of grapes for wine and olives for oil. The land would eventually be purchased by the Farkas family in the 1860s and in 1967, the proprietors decided to renovate the wine cellars as well as replant the vineyards and olive groves.

In present day, Villa Cafaggio covers approximately 60 ha, 30 ha dedicated to vineyards and 3 ha for olive groves- the rest of the property is entirely woodlands. Nestled in “Conca d’Oro,” which means “golden basin,” this area is known as one of the best for producing Chianti Classico. Owned, operated, and managed by La-Vis Group, a financial holding company from Trento, they produce four Chianti Classico wines and two “cru” wines; Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, respectfully.
